Andrew Dickhout’s inspirational story of organ donation

One organ donor can save up to eight lives.

It is a lesson John Dickhout, knows well.

Dickhout is a recent transplant survivor and in this touching, heartfelt study of determination and gratitude, he wants to run a 10k race in under 60 minutes. A documentary crew follows him every step, and run, along the way for two years since his life was saved.

Certainly, this film is a study in his drive and commitment to achieve his goal, but we also see his emotional connection to the family of a stranger, that gave him life.

More than 4,500 Canadians are currently on the waiting list for an organ and 90% of Canadians support organ donation, but only 20% are registered donors.

Andrew Dickhout’s short documentary A Racing Heart takes us on a journey of love, loss, struggle and hope, helping audiences to understand the impact of organ donation in saving a life.

Make sure to attend the 2018 Forest City Film Festival to experience this film on the big screen! A Racing Heart will be screened during the five day festival running from Oct 24-28. Information on tickets and venues can be found here.
